Security Lockout System
A secure lockout system enhances school safety by allowing staff to instantly secure the building with the push of a button. The system automatically alerts first responders, notifies key personnel, and provides clear instructions throughout the school, reducing response time and ensuring a fast, coordinated response when every second counts.
Science Classroom Renovations
Science is best learned by doing. Updating our science classrooms will give students the opportunity to explore, experiment, and discover through hands-on learning rather than simply reading from a textbook. Modern labs create engaging spaces where students can ask questions, solve real-world problems, and build the critical thinking skills they need for college, careers, and everyday life. Investing in these classrooms helps spark curiosity and prepares students for success in an increasingly science- and technology-driven world.
New Band Room
The new band room will provide a learning environment designed to meet the unique acoustical needs of music instruction. Poor acoustics can make it difficult for students to hear instruction, develop proper tone and technique, and rehearse effectively, while excessive noise levels can contribute to fatigue and hearing concerns. A properly designed space with appropriate acoustical treatments will improve sound quality, enhance instruction, and better support student performance. As our understanding of effective learning environments has grown, so has our responsibility to provide spaces that help every student succeed
Orchestra Room
The former band room will undergo minor renovations to create a dedicated orchestra room, providing the high school's growing orchestra program with a permanent home for instruction, rehearsal, and instrument storage. The project also includes climate-controlled storage to protect valuable instruments from damage caused by fluctuations in temperature and humidity. A dedicated orchestra space supports high-quality music instruction while fostering creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking—helping educate the whole child and ensuring students have the opportunity to thrive through the arts.
BCPA Updates
For more than 30 years, the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts has served our students and community. To keep it functioning safely and at a high level, several critical updates are needed.
Projects include replacing aging audience seating, where replacement parts are no longer available, investing in a new virtual acoustic shell to replace the broken manual shell, improving ventilation in the dressing rooms, and updating aging performance systems. These improvements preserve a valuable community asset while ensuring students have a safe, modern space to learn, perform and showcase their talents for years to come.
Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing
Many of the high school's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems—including boilers, chillers, and other critical equipment—are reaching the end of their useful life. The project will also address ongoing temperature differences in the A Wing and other areas of the building, where aging systems struggle to maintain consistent comfort. Replacing these essential components will improve reliability, increase energy efficiency, reduce costly emergency repairs, and provide students and staff with a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning learning environment for years to come.
